Would the temperature of a cup of hot coffee change at a constant rate? Why or
why not?

No the temperature didn't change at a constant rat because of the environment. The room temperature affects a big part of the the temperature in a cup because the environment is changing inconsistent. If the room is 60 the cup may change from freezing point to 60 which is room temperature.

  2. the temperature of the cup would change because its sits and a person doesnt drink the coffee often.but then the cup would start to cool down as time goes down. so the constant must change over time. Donald clark 6per

  3. marcqueil colbert i think it would because the cup is just sitting there isnt nothing keeping it warm

  4. Shayyyyy! (6th Period) I would say the cup of hot coffee does change at a constant rate. When the coffee cup is sitting there, it is hot at first but since it is untouched, overtime it will cool down and eventually adjust to the room temperature. It will not increase, only DECREASE.

  5. I think the temperature of a cup of coffee would change at a constant rate. If it sits in a area with the same temperature then it should change at a constant rate. If the temperature around the cup of coffee changes, then the rate in which the temperature decreases or increases will change. - Caleb Watts 2nd period

  6. Yes the temperature of the coffee cup rate would change .it depends how hot the coffee is inside . That will show you the exact temper but when it cools down it will go down to room temperature . it wont have a high rate anymore it will continue to go low and the coffee is beginning to get cold . And that will turn in to room temperature . So do i believe the coffee rate will change Yes i surly do.

  7. a cup of coffee does not change at a constant rate.It contains a negative real hot energy feedback.Which it depends on the room teperature that will flow or go intothe coffee.but it would still have to take a few minutes to acually cool.

The rate at which the temperature of a hot cup of coffee changes would depend on the temperature of the room that it's in. If the temperature of the room isn't constant, the temperature of the coffee won't be constant. Overall, I think that a cup of hot coffee could change temperatures at a constant rate if it isn't disturbed or if the temperature of the room remains the same.

  9. The temperature of a hot cup of coffee will not change at a constant rate. Because the temperature of the room that the cup is in will effect how fast or slow the temperature changes. If the room is really cold the temperature of the ccup will drop to that temperature quickly.

The temperature of the coffee changed over time. Because it began to cool off. But once it cooled off for a long time then eventually it would become the room temperature which for my group was 70 degrees. The constahnt rate is 70.

The constant rate does not change it always stays the same. The temperature for the cup of coffee does change from the time you warm up the coffee its at the highest. If you let the coffee sit out it will start to reach room temperature. the constant rate for my cup of coffee was 68.0.

  12. The temperature would change depending on the room temperatre ,that it is in.Also depending on the temperature , it can change really quickly.

  13. The temperature would change, because as the coffee sits out the enviorment around the cup will cause the temperature of the coffee to change.

  14. The temperature of coffee would change at a constant rate because as the temperature begins to stay hot, It will condense in the air and cool down. The way that the coffee will increase is if it was placed on a higher temperature. The coffee will continue to be outside and then it will completely decrease its rate of how it stays hot.

  15. - The temperature of a cup of coffee, will change at a constant rate to get to room temperature. If and when it is very hot, it will decrease in temperature drastically, then when it gets close to room temperature it will slow down at a constant rate. If the cup of coffee is barely hot enough to burn your tongue or even good enough to make you want to drink it, the cup of coffee will then at its constant rate be slower than if it was really hot.

yes i think it would change at a constant rate because there is nothing there to make the temperature go up or stay the same. so therefore the temperature would go down eventually until it reaches where it wants to be.

  17. No the temperature wouldnt change at a constant rate because its cooling down by itself.

  18. the temperature of the coffee would not change drastically but it would change at a slow pace because coffee is not room temperature.so pretty much it depends on how how the coffee is

  20. no this would not happen because depending on the room temp. that the coffee is set it,the temp. can chage at varies rates, for example if the room temp is set at lets just say 50 degrees F and the coffee inital temp starting off at 100 degrees then of coruse its going to cool down maybe about 98 to 91 degrees within 5 minutes where as if the room temp.is about 85 degrees then the coffee would go down from 100 degrees to about 98 to 97 in 5 minutes

  21. a cup of coffee will decrease it depends on the cup. the cup and the room temp play a key role. in a regular cup may cool at a constant rate because the cup does not hold heat but some cups hold heat. so the coffee would take longer to cool. the room temp would pull the heat because heat raise but the room is to large so the coffee would just cool down.

  22. The temperture would change depending on the room temperature. If you let the coffee sit out it will start to reach room temperature.but it will not increse at all it will only be decreasing

  23. The temperature of a hot cup of coffee wouldn't change at a constant rate because the temperature of a normal room doesn't remain the same. A room's temperature fluctuates usually between a temperature of 59°F and 77°F, assuming the climate isn't being controlled. Therefore, the coffee inside the cup would either cool at a slower rate, if the temperature was relatively high, or at a slower rate, if the temperature was relatively low.

  24. As the cup of coffee cools energy is being released which means that the temperature of the coffee would decrease at a constant rate until it reaches room temperature. When each temperature of the hot water was recorded and placed on a placed on the graph the line line was sloped in a downward direction which would also be the same results for a cup of coffee.

  25. The temperature of the coffee will change if its just sitting out in the open. The temperature of the room will also have a effect on the coffee. It will most likely began to get colder.

  26. I believe the temperature of a hot cup of coffee wouldn't change at a constant rate because the temperature of a room would change. Which would make the temperature of the coffee to decrease continually.

  27. The temperature would change at a constant rate. As the cup of coffee sets out in the open the the temperature of the coffee would start to differ as time progresses

  28. I do not believe the temperature of a coffee cup would change at a constant rate. The room's temperature is a contributing factor on how fast it will change. I believe it will b constant for a while then it will graudally decrease to a steady temperature. The hot coffee is trying to meet equilbrium with the room's temperature. After it is there, the coffee will remain at a steady temperature.

The temperature of hot coffee would not change at a constant rate. The reason why is because if there is a thermometer you may easily change the room temperature whether the temperature goes up or down the temperature of the hot coffee becomes room temperature after room temperature the coffee will get cold.

  30. The temperature of the hot cup of coffee is dependent on the room temperature. Therefore, if the room temperature stays at a constant rate, so will the coffee. however, if the room temp drops the temperature of the coffee will decrease faster than normal.

  32. The cup of coffee would only change if the coffee is hot and not room temperature. If the coffee is it i will remain hot for a period of time then it will eventually decrease as time progresses. At this point the cup of coffee will become room temperature and will then stay at a constant rate. But if the coffee was already at room temperature then it will remain constant and will not change.

  34. Yes, the temperture of the coffee is going to change at a constant rate. It starts too cool down because of the temperature around it isnt changing. If it was insulated it would stay hot longer becuase of the temperture is controlled. If your were to put ice cubes in it it would cool faster.

Yes, first let me say that beverages such as tea, hot chocolate, and coffee are frequently served at temperatures between 160°F (71.1°C) and 185°F (85°C). The reason the coffee will not stay constant is that in a certain area that is warm, the coffee will not stay hot. The coffee will eventually be the same as the room tempurature. Which means if it is 160°F, it will drop to the room temperautre which could be about 71°F.
