PreCal: Maps

How are your trig functions like maps?

  1. The trig functions, like maps, tell you where to go. They "map" out specifics needed to get to a certain "destination". For instance, with the unit circle (in the section that we are currently in), I would use my trig funtions as "directions" on how to navigate my unit circle. Likewise, on tonight's homework, we had to use the unit circle to get a specific number or quantity, whether sin, cos, or tan. In this case, we had to use what we knew from our trig functions and trig identities to determine what work needed to be done, and what answer(s) we were looking for..

The trigonometric functions can be expressed with compositions that involve the exponential function followed by a bilinear function.Images of certain regions can be found by following the shapes of successive images in the composite mapping. The trig functions help us to find certain "points" on the unit circle; that we can then use to perform calculations.

  3. The trig functions are like maps, because they are basically directions. It gives you the specific pathway to find points on the unit circle that help relate back to the trig function to solve a problem. The unit circle would be considered the key in this situation. It helps direct you to your destination. Without maps/gps the majority of people wouldn't have a clue where they supposed to go. Same for the functions, without knowing the basics of the unit circle, how could you solve the problem.

  4. The trig functions are like maps because they guide us to solve the problem. Trig functions lead us to a key point on the unit circle and from there we are close to solving the problem. The unit circle is the "final turn" or key point we need to find the answer, without it we woukd be lost.

  5. Trig Functions are like maps because they tell you where we will be working on the unit circle to determine your answer. They give directions to certain areas to work out of and without them you will be lost in finding your answer.

  6. because trig functions serve as a guide to where you need to be on the unit circle. just like a map trig functions give certain directions to where you would look . Hassan moody

  7. Trig functions are like maps because in the function, there are specific coordinates that can be found and used to navigate to exact points on a graph. They are a lot like the coordinates given on an exact location of something on a map.

  8. Trig functions can be compared to maps because they lead you to a destination on the unit circle. the functions help solves problems that will always lead you back to the unit circle in some way.

  9. The comparison between trig functions and maps are quiet simple. Maps show you specific locations and where you destination is located. Which reflects back to unit cicle and how they direct you to your answer based on the guidance of the trig functions.
